Melina finds her mate, only to discover that he hates her species. She had to help the team find rogue fledgling vampires being sired by an unknown person.
The fledglings have been hunting down and killing several warriors in different werewolf packs in Oregon.
When the team arrives to discuss where the vampires might be hiding, Melina finds her mate. She is ecstatic.
She had been worried it might take centuries to find someone to love her, like it did for her father and uncle.
He is disgusted by her being a vampire, hiding that fact from her, but he allowed her to enter his pack.
He keeps putting off her Luna ceremony or marking her for months, lying to her about the reasons why he can't.
When she goes to the pack doctor due to illness, she discovers that she is pregnant. She is excited to get to him and tell him the good news.
That's when she discovers why he refused to mark her. Melina runs away to save herself and her baby.
Trying to find someone who can help her before she is found. Knowing that she needs to hold out for her brother to come and save her from her mate.
