"Ariana, you are awake!" He said gently but stopped in his tracks, looking at me intently.
"Who... who are you?" I stuttered.
"Ariana! I am Vincent," he sighed, and his voice was urging.
"I... I know your name. Who are you actually?
You are something else because no ordinary man can do what you did there in the mall," I demanded in a hushed voice.
Vincent sighed, shaking his head before his eyes again fixed on me.
"Ariana! I will tell you everything. First of all, your health is the main concern. How are you feeling?"
Then, ignoring my question, he asked his query.
"Don't change the topic! Tell me, who are you?" I insisted.
He rubbed his forehead before replying, "Ariana, I will tell you everything. But I don't want you to be scared of me."
"Stop beating around the bush. Tell me, who are you?" I asked in desperation.
However, I didn't know whether I was ready to hear the truth or not.
"I am... a Vampire," he confessed hesitantly.
His blue eyes oversaw me. My eyes widened in horror after hearing his reply, and my jaw dropped.
"V.. vampire?" I stammered.
My whole body was drenched in a thin layer of cold sweat. My hands began to tremble. I held them to comfort myself.
He was a vampire.
Did they exist for real? Of course, they did. One of them stood before me, and this realization drained all my blood from my body.
"Yes!" He nodded nonchalantly.
"That... man was calling you the king," I murmured.
"Because I am the Vampire King," he announced.
"Vampire King?" I repeated, terrified. "Was that man you were fighting with also a vampire?" I asked.
"No! He was a hybrid, an Octabrid," Vincent answered calmly.
"Octabrid? What does it mean?" I asked, oblivious to these creatures.
"He has eight shifter species in him," Vincent answered.
My eyes widened in shock. How was it possible? What kind of shifter was he?
I still didn't understand. Then I remembered he was calling me his mate.
"He called me mate. It means..." I asked.
"It means nothing, Ariana. I won't let you go with that dangerous creature.
He is a criminal in both the shifter and human worlds," Vincent grumbled, making me flinch.
