Apparently, WhatsApp tends to reduce picture and video quality when you send them as "media" files. Well, in the actual sense, what WhatsApp does is compress these files and make them easier to send through. To curb these quality reductions, WhatsApp users started sending their media files as "Documents." However, there's now a new way to go about the situation.
WhatsApp introduced a "HD" feature, which now allows users to send eligible photos and videos in "HD" quality. With this HD feature, there became no need to send photos and videos as documents any longer, instead, when you upload the files, simply tap on the "HD" icon at the top of the interface. But then, you could be in haste and forget to tap the HD icon, which means the files get sent in "lower quality."
To avoid all these scenarios, and to ensure that every media you send across on WhatsApp is uploaded in HD quality (including your WhatsApp statuses, here's a guide on how to force HD mode for all your uploads.

How to Force All WhatsApp Uploads to be in HD Quality (Including Statuses)
- Step One: On your Android/iOS smartphone's WhatsApp app, tap on the three-dot icon and open "Settings."
- Step Two: On the Settings page, tap on "Storage and Data."
- Step Three: On the Storage and Data page, look out for the "Media Upload" row and tap on it.
- Step Four: Select HD Quality as your default media upload quality and that's it.
